The 25: Whitlock & Pope’s Most Anticipated Films of 2014 – #25-11

21. The Lobster (TBA US & UK)

The modern dating scene can be a tough place.  Setting up eHarmony profiles, swiping left or right on Tinder, trying to make a good impression in those all-important first few minutes.  And then if you fail to hook up with someone in your hotel within 45 days, well, then you’re banished by society to the woods and transmogrified into an animal.  We’ve all been there.

The Lobster stars wispy Ben Whishaw and the always wonderful Olivia Colman (“Broadchurch,” Tyrannosaur).  It’s also directed by the Ocar-winning Yorgos Lanthimos (Dogtooth), who is supposed to be very good…

But that doesn’t matter. I just want Olivia Colman to devolve into a crustacean.

Anyway.  Classic dystopian fairytale rom-com action. –AJP
