The 25: Whitlock & Pope’s Most Anticipated Films of 2014 – #25-11

18. St. Vincent de Van Nuys (April 11 US/TBA UK)

This is Theodore Melfi’s first feature-length film. Admittedly, I don’t know much about Melfi, but his script about a kid who makes unlikely friends with the curmudgeon next door in the midst of his parents’ divorce has managed to draw an indie comedy director’s dream cast (Bill Murray, Melissa McCarthy, Chris O’Dowd, and Naomi Watts). Plus, it was filmed in Bay Ridge, a part of Brooklyn where old ladies will smack you on the street for taking the Lord’s name in vain. –GW
